💡Pro Tip
This recipe has several flavors competing for attention, so resist the temptation to add extra syrup. The strawberry purée should remain the lead flavor.
Why You'll Love It
This is a bigger, more layered strawberry Dr Pepper. Coconut adds a subtle tropical character while vanilla provides the smooth background that allows the strawberry purée to stay front and center.
The heavy cream ties everything together. Instead of tasting like four separate additions, the ingredients gradually blend into a rich strawberry-cream soda with just enough coconut to make the finish distinctive.
🇺🇸America Spotlight🇺🇸
Along California’s Central Coast, Watsonville sits in the fertile Pajaro Valley, where cool coastal weather and rich farmland have made strawberries a defining part of the region’s agricultural identity. That heritage is celebrated each summer at the Watsonville Strawberry Festival, a downtown tradition dedicated to the fruit the city recognizes as the largest and most valuable crop in the Pajaro Valley.
The festival brings the community together with strawberry-inspired foods, local vendors, entertainment and family activities while celebrating the growers and agricultural traditions behind Watsonville’s famous berries. That deep connection to strawberries makes Watsonville the perfect inspiration for this strawberry-forward dirty Dr Pepper, with coconut, vanilla and cream adding a smooth tropical twist.
